Course Aims

  1. To help rehabilitation professionals move beyond passive recovery models and toward active, evidence-based care.
  2. The course is designed to be practical, accessible, and immediately applicable in clinical settings. It equips clinicians with the tools and confidence to assess VOM dysfunction, initiate targeted rehabilitation, and support athletes through every stage of recovery.
  3. My goal is to empower practitioners with the knowledge and strategies they need to manage concussion more effectively—and to raise the standard of care for athletes navigating this complex injury.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain the pathophysiology of concussion and relate it to varied concussion injury presentations.
  2. Apply a symptom-based framework to the assessment, monitoring, and rehabilitation of concussion injuries.
  3. Integrate concussion management strategies into return-to-play plans, incorporating psychological support, interdisciplinary collaboration, and athlete-specific considerations.
  4. Design individualised rehabilitation programs that reflect sex-specific factors, sport demands, clinical risk profiles, and contextual needs.
  5. Be aware of and able to be critical evaluate current evidence on concussion recovery trajectories, standardised assessments and rehabilitation strategies, including long-term implications for return to sport and life participation.
  6. Demonstrate professional responsibility in safeguarding athlete welfare, through implementation of prevention strategies, risk reduction protocols, and appropriate referral pathways.
